So Amy's gone to live with my friend, with two new brothers. And a new little doll is here, a blue-eyed brunette bitty Hitty about the size of a Fashion Polly doll. She's a cute little thing, and so serious, so I named her in honor of Jabez, the Natterer girl who lived here for awhile. I've been trying to make a little carved and jointed wooden doll for some time, so I guess this is the story of a dream doll coming home.
My Best Dolls (x-posted)

This is my Natterer, Jabez. And my Obitsu, Logan. Jabez is the best because she's my dream doll. The first non department store doll that I ever got to own. And she's just beautiful.
Logan has become a best friend, so to speak. I role play a lot, and some of my characters are female versions of the X-Men's Wolverine. I got to liking the character so much that I made a doll of her. Andrea helped me to get her dressed, and here she is. Her face is very simple because I've never been able to paint my own dolls worth beans (I can paint them for others just fine), but when I was trying to get her features right I realized that I didn't need to make her look like Logan, because she is Logan. She just needed eyes to see with.
What are your best dolls?

Maeve progress report

And here's Logan supervising as I stuffed:p Love the foot on the keyboard.

Thank You, Jesus!
Mara has a new sweater and Jabez is going to my grandparents' house with me tommorrow. I just saw another little tiny elf BJD that made my greedy bug wake up. I sent the swap items I made off today. Jabez has been holding Tikvah for most of this week, and the two of them and Mara have been hanging round the couch as I write. Molly's Uck-up monster jumped down into the mess on the botom shelf of my desk on Saterday, and I haven't seen him since. Molly is not amused, even if she did run off with my happy flower mini eraser this morning. I got my lil sister Icey started making up stories about her dolls. Logan is sitting around being her Wolverine self even sans clothes and head. Logan's head was sold out when my order reached the company, so we'll be waiting a little longer. I've got a Hello Kitty mini doll for somebody, dunno who yet.
That's all:D
Thank You, Jesus!

Wistful dollies
Oct. 31st, 2005 12:22 pmI admired the Nats for a couple of years, but never thought that I would have one. Then I found that a nearby 'quality' toy store carried the Natterer Bye-Bye Dollies. I admired them, but didn't think any further of it till the day that I realized that I had enough birthday money and GST check money to afford one.
All my life I've been trained to believe that I couldn't have fine, beautiful things because they were too expensive and because I didn't need 'fancy' stuff. Even something so simple as a blooming Amarylis bulb can seem too extravagant for me.
Well, I went out and I bought one of those little Nats, and I haven't regretted her once, even though I need a vacuume and new clothes. Jabez is a reminder that, as a creation of God, I am important and worthwile, and her pensive, wistful expression speaks to my soul. Noticing all the differences between her and her accessories and what can be bought here in toy stores, like the roominess and careful finishing of her dress, and the way her toes are different on each slender little foot, not to mention her adorable little ankles and knees, brings me quiet joy. And now my yearning for so many other dolls is stilled. I have my dream doll. I have something good and beautiful. And I thank God.
